Environmental Light was a documentation and an invitation to the black women in my life to simply be. Often in the society we live in we are faced with images and assumptions of who we never said we were to begin with. With pressures to be palatable and frustrations to conduct oneself authentically, finding space to simply be can be challenging. Using the light of their environment, I wanted to capture women in their state of rest, accepting them as they are.
